I should say a few more words about my conception of descriptive metaphysics. On my proposal, descriptive metaphysics would not simply provide a list of the objects to which the "folk" are ontically committed. " For example, descriptive metaphysics is interested in whether people's ontic commitments are the result of the lexical ingredients of the language they irrLbibe from their cultural community or whether it flows directly from their biologically specified cognitive architecture.
