These now went ashore and the men from Talthybius willingly agreed to work their passage and get the ship away. Their casualties had been a Chinese steward killed, a seaman gunner badly burned and a 1st radio officer injured ashore during an air raid a few days previously, who had to be left in hospital, not fit to travel. Working parties coaled the ship and helped themselves to food supplies from the transit sheds. By mid-afternoon, 11 February, Fing Wo was on the move to the Eastern Roads where, in the next few hours, nearly 200 Europeans and Eurasians, mostly civilians, were picked up as they came out in all manner of small boats from Clifford Pier.
