This may also alter the relationship between meteorological drought and agricultural/hydrological drought; an increase in meteorological drought may result in a smaller increase in agricultural or hydrological drought owing to increased water-use efficiency of plants ( Betts et al. 2007 ). We find support for the mechanism where BC-induced midlatitude tropospheric heating shifts the maximum meridional tropospheric temperature gradient poleward resulting in tropical expansion.

New technologies, such as biotechnology and computer science (for data processing and storage), and technological advances have made it possible to develop new research fields, including genetic engineering, agrophysics, improved statistical analysis, and precision farming. Habeck, 2002: Farm-level economic impacts of climate change. Economists measure the total factor productivity of agriculture and by this measure agriculture in the United States is roughly 2.6 times more productive than it was in 1948.

Northern Hemisphere monsoon strength over the last millennium is positively correlated with Northern Hemisphere temperature and North Atlantic SST. We argue that there is a great potential to allow the associated emission reductions through using biochar into trading markets under current agreements, because emission reduction units obtained due to the use of biochar can easily be accounted, monitored, and verified. This included grants funded originally in 2005 and in their 1st year of funding along with the year 2 and 3 continuing grants. 3) The management grant funded travel for Pacific Basin Administrative Group to the joint meeting of the TSTAR Pacific and Caribbean Administrative Groups in March 2005 in Washington, DC. 4) The management grant coordinated TSTAR Pacific activities with the University of Guam; TSTAR Pacific Experiment Station Director and coordinated activities with TSTAR Caribbean institutions (Universities of Florida, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands). 5) Maintenance of the TSTAR web page was funded through the management grant. 6) In November 9-10, 2004, the TSTAR Pacific program hosted the Biennial Program Review for the TSTAR program at the Marriott Wailea, Maui, Hawaii.

The 'year' on Uranus lasts 84 Earth years, which creates extremely long seasons - winter in the northern hemisphere has lasted for nearly 20 years. The phenomenological approach we propose is an alternative to the more traditional computer-based climate model approach, and yields results proven to be almost independent on the secular TSI proxy reconstruction used. On January 21, the Center for International Agricultural Research (CIAR) of CAAS was launched, aiming to provide scientific and technological support for Chinese agricultural Going-Out.
