Helping all students learn takes more than desire and patience -- it requires using specific strategies for each learner. Repeating, or revisiting tasks, allows students to engage with tasks at a deeper level. Summarize cycle 2: Students discuss which types of graphs they chose for displaying their data and why. This rubric is appropriate for use with younger children. It is possible for children to learn much more than the "child-centered" and "developmentally appropriate" experts would have us believe. Polloway and Patton (1993) note that students with math disabilities improve their problem-solving skills through teacher-directed activities that include (a) having students read or listen to the problem carefully; (b) engaging students in focusing on relevant information and/or significant words needed to obtain the correct answer while discarding the irrelevant by writing a few words about the answer needed (e.g., number of apples), by identifying aloud or circling the significant words in the problem, and by highlighting the relevant numbers; (c) involving students in verbalizing a solution for the problem using a diagram or sketch when appropriate; (d) developing strategies for working through the story problem by writing an appropriate mathematical sentence; and (e) performing the necessary calculations, evaluating the answer for reasonableness, and writing the answer in appropriate terms.

Having your students explain their own mental models or “I wonder. . .” models aloud will help clarify the process for them and allow you to assess their understanding. It is an effective method for students to learn by teaching their peers. Have students join shapes to create new shapes. Ask the student the name of the final shape and the smaller shapes used to create it. In other words Vedic Maths needed to be arranged in a systematic way so that trainers can teach it and derive results.
